Worth the Wait

,

Happy Sabbath friends! Do you have moments in your life when you struggle with trusting in God’s perfect timing? Maybe patience is something you struggle with, and I am here to state that you are not alone. Patience is not my strong suit, as I would describe myself as a very impulsive person. I have the mindset of if I want something, I am just going to go for it. This may be a positive in some aspects, but it can be a negative as a follower of Christ because are we bringing the impulsive acts to our Heavenly Father first? I know for myself, whenever I act impulsively before bringing it up to God, it usually never turns out according to plan, as our God’s plans are and always will be greater than our own.

““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
Proverbs 19:21 NIV

God already had our lives planned out from the moment we were knit together in our mother’s womb. Our story is already written by our Heavenly Father, we just need to make the decision whether we want to read through the novel exactly how it is written, or not.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalms 139:13-14 NIV

“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Psalms 139:16 NIV

God knew us even before we were born into this world. He is the One who knows every detail about us, who we are, where we came from, and who we are going to be. If this is the case, shouldn’t we place our complete trust in Him? Why do we get so uneasy when we are in a waiting season, when we have a Heavenly Father who already knows how our lives pans out? Unfortunately that is our flesh speaking when we decide to change the narrative of the story our God already has written. Ultimately, when we choose to follow the narrow way with Christ Jesus, everything falls into place. I remember a time I was reading a mystery and true crime fictional book, and at first, nothing made sense and there were no answers. I was in complete darkness about where the author of the book would take us on this journey of finding the murderer. Once I reached the end of the book, the murderer was revealed and I remember looking back at the previous parts in the book and I saw all the pieces falling right into place. There were so many clues foreshadowing to the end of the book that I overlooked earlier in the story. I mention this analogy because isn’t this how life can be? God already is the author of our lives, and we are reading through trying to figure out how it all ends. Yet, when we reach the ending of a season and/or chapter in our lives, isn’t it funny how everything typically falls right into place and makes complete sense when we reflect and give thanks to God for guiding us to the end of the story? Everything is worth the wait if we just surrender ourselves to our Heavenly Father and put our complete trust in Him.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Psalms 27:14 NIV

Our Heavenly Father and His plans for us are most definitely worth the wait.

Trust in Him to guide you through the journey He already has written out for you.

Lord, You are worth the wait. I pray over all who are reading this message that they are filled with Your Holy Spirit. I pray they surrender themselves to You, and put their complete trust in You so that whatever You have in store for them will most definitely be worth the wait.

Amen.
