You Are Beautiful

Happy Sabbath friends! Do you know that you are wonderfully made? Do you know that you are chosen? Do you know that you are loved? Do you know how precious you are?

In this world it can be easy for us to compare ourselves to those around us, or we could face rejection of some kind, and we allow the negative thoughts to convince us that we are not good enough. I am here to tell you that those thoughts are not from God. I can confidently state this because it is stated in the Word of God that we are wonderfully made, and if everything God says is true, then why would this statement not be correct?

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalms 139:14 NIV

“Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.”
Proverbs 30:5 NLT

I am here to tell you that you are beautiful — inside and out. This world is going to do its absolute best to bring you down. The world unfortunately will try to make you feel ugly on the outside, and even on the inside. Luckily, we have a God who reminds us time and time again that we are so very beautiful.

We are going to read a piece of scripture about a king’s daughter being all glorious within and her clothing being made of gold. When we read this piece of scripture, I want all the men reading this to put yourself in the shoes of the king, and all the women, put yourself in the shoes of the princess. Allow your hearts and minds to accept the truth of Jesus being read to you today.

“My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever. Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, With Your glory and Your majesty. And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness; And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things. Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies; The peoples fall under You. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions. All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia, Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad. Kings’ daughters are among Your honorable women; At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir. Listen, O daughter, Consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people also, and your father’s house; So the King will greatly desire your beauty; Because He is your Lord, worship Him. And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor. The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; Her clothing is woven with gold. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors; The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You. With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought; They shall enter the King’s palace. Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons, Whom You shall make princes in all the earth. I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever.”
Psalms 45:1-17 NKJV

In case you want more understanding on this piece of scripture (I like to compare different versions of the Bible to gain a deeper understanding on God’s Word), please see below the easy-to-read version:

“Beautiful thoughts fill my mind as I speak these lines for the king. These words come from my tongue as from the pen of a skilled writer. You are more handsome than anyone, and you say such pleasant things. So God will always bless you. Put on your sword, mighty warrior, so impressive in your splendid uniform. Go out in your greatness to win the victory for what is true and right. Let us see the amazing things you can do with your powerful right arm. Your sharp arrows will go deep into the hearts of your enemies, who will fall to the ground in front of you. God, your kingdom will last forever. You use your authority for justice. You love what is right and hate what is wrong. So God, your God, chose you to be king, giving you more joy and honor than anyone like you. From your clothes comes the wonderful smell of myrrh, aloes, and cassia. In palaces decorated with ivory, you enjoy the music of stringed instruments. Here are ladies of honor, daughters of kings. Your bride stands at your right side, wearing a gown decorated with the finest gold. My lady, listen to me. Listen carefully and understand me. Forget your people and your father’s family, so that the king will be pleased with your beauty. He will be your new husband, so you must honor him. People from Tyre will bring you gifts. Their richest people will try to win your friendship. The princess is so beautiful in her gown, like a pearl set in gold. Clothed in beauty, she is led to the king, followed by her bridesmaids. Filled with joy and excitement, they enter into the king’s palace. Your sons will be kings like their ancestors. You will make them rulers throughout the land. You will be famous for generations. People will praise you forever and ever.”
Psalms 45:1-17 ERV

If we put ourselves in the shoes of the king, and the princess, we gain an understanding that God views us as beautiful — inside and out. It is written, “you are more handsome than anyone”, and this was spoken about the king. Like I said earlier, replace anything that talks about the king with yourself, and watch how it brings the Words of God to life. God is stating that YOU are handsome/beautiful. “God chose you to be king”…God chose YOU, and He loves YOU. God instructs the king to go out in greatness to win the victory for what is true and right…doesn’t God tell us to do the same? These verses in Psalms are absolutely beautiful, especially when we replace what is said about the king and princess and place it upon ourselves. Let us go over what was said about the princess and see how it can apply to us…”the princess is so beautiful in her gown, like a pearl set in gold”. We are so beautiful externally in the eyes of our Lord Jesus. “The king will greatly desire your beauty”…it is referenced over and over how beautiful the princess is in the eyes of the king (which can be referred to as our significant other, or Jesus the King of all). I almost want to state that this verse is saying that the king is being referred to as Jesus as it is capitalized throughout this scripture, or it could be a sign of respect for the kings. After reading this beautiful verse in the book of Psalms, it shows me that we have been woven in gold externally, and internally, which can define us as valuable. It is also shown that God sees and desires us. He sees the beauty within us, and the beauty that outwardly shines from us. This is a marvelous reminder that we are so very beautiful in His sight. We will encounter people in this world who will try to tear us down, but we can hold onto the truth that God sees, desires, and cherishes each and every single one of us. We are so precious and beautiful to our King of all, named Lord Jesus.

Allow the below scriptures to speak truth upon your life to the fact that you are so very beautiful. Don’t allow the world to tell you otherwise. The ultimate truth can only be found in Jesus and His Word.

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Genesis 1:27 NIV

“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.”
Song of Songs 4:7 NIV

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:10 NLT

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Colossians 3:12-13 NIV

I pray over all who are reading this message that they are filled with Your truth and love, Jesus. I pray over all that they stop allowing the lies of the world to impact how they view themselves when You view us as so much more than we can ever imagine. Please open the hearts of all who are reading this message that they can now see in Your Word how many times You mention how precious and beautiful each of Your children truly are. Thank You for always seeing the best in us, when the world, or even ourselves may only see the worst. Thank You for reminding us that we are indeed beautiful, precious, and chosen in Your presence.

Amen.
