Mr Right

Happy Sabbath & Happy Valentine’s Day friends! I have met numerous people, and even myself, where all they want is a boyfriend/girlfriend. They believe that once they have someone, that they will then be truly happy. I used to have this mindset, I’ll admit. A lot has happened to me in my life where it has changed my perspective and view on relationships and love. I now know that no other person is going to make me truly happy. True happiness comes from our Heavenly Father, and that is what we are delving into today. It doesn’t matter if you are single, taken, etc., this message is for you.

“What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, who have set their minds on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.”
Psalms 84:5 NLT

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
Psalms 16:11 NIV

Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to celebrate love, especially for our loved one(s), but this day is not just for taken people, but for everyone because God is the true definition of love, and God’s love is big enough for every single person.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
1 John 4:16 NIV

“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”
Ephesians 3:18 NLT

I am sure you have heard of the phrase, “if he wanted to, he would”, and I am a firm believer of this phrase. I have been in numerous relationships where I was filled with so much confusion, sadness, emptiness, etc. and that is ultimately because those relationships were not from God.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
James 1:17 NIV

I have put myself in so many relationships, situations, etc., where I was putting my all into someone, and they either weren’t ready for a relationship, or they didn’t feel I was good enough for them. It caused me so much heartache, brokenness, confusion, and more. All these emotions would not come from our Heavenly Father, as all good and perfect gifts come from Him. I think of the phrase “if he wanted to, he would” when I think of Jesus. Jesus WANTS to love us. He chooses us each and every day. What Jesus says are not just words, as He follows through on His actions. He displays His everlasting love for us through His actions which are reflected through the Word of God, and throughout our daily lives. THIS is the type of man we should allow into our lives. A man who knows what he wants, and goes after it. Not with just his words, but through his actions. How are they showing up for you each day? I can confidently state that our Heavenly Father shows up for us each and every single day. I cannot even think of a day where I felt abandoned by our Heavenly Father. I can think of countless of times where I was hurt, abandoned, betrayed, etc., by man, but when it comes to Jesus, He was always there ready to embrace me while the sorrowful tears were streaming down my face.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Psalms 46:1 NIV

My point in saying all this is to show you that during this Valentine’s Day, instead of placing your identity in the man/woman you are with, or instead of being filled with loneliness during a season of singleness, I want you to know and truly let it sink in that YOU ARE WORTH IT. Do NOT settle for these people out there who are ready to steal your joy, break you down, take you further away from God, etc., instead, turn to our Heavenly Father who will surpass all expectations. He WILL show up for you, time and time again. He WILL choose you, time and time again. He WILL view you as good enough, time and time again.

Instead of worrying about a person who may or may not want you during this Valentine’s Day, fully focus on the One who literally died on the cross for you. Can you think of anyone else who has literally DIED for us? The only person that comes to my mind is Jesus. We’re over here stressing over a man/woman who are barely giving us the bare minimum, when we have a Savior who gave His life for us to display His overwhelming love that He has for us.

I pray that whoever is reading this message is filled with the Holy Spirit during this Valentine’s Day. I pray that during this time, we turn to Jesus, and display our gratitude for our Heavenly Father showing up for us time and time again (not just on Valentine’s Day, but He shows up for us 365 days a year). Praise the Lord that we have a God who loves us unconditionally and shows us our value, time and time again.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalms 139:13-14 NIV

You’re looking for your Mr. Right? Well guess what…our Mr. Right is named Jesus, and He loves you all the time, no matter what. Don’t settle for less friends.

“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love”
Ephesians 1:4 NIV

Amen.
