Change. It can be quite scary. But why is it so scary for us? I can only speak for myself and maybe you can relate, but change can be scary because of the unknown. It’s something different. We don’t know how it will end. We don’t know where it will lead us.
What if we changed our perspective on change? I know this may be scary, unknown, or unexpected to hear because it may change your perspective on this, but please, open your hearts and minds to what I am about to express. What if we looked at change as good? What if instead of letting the fear of change consume us, we gave it to God? What if we gave up that sense of control that we try to have over our lives, and instead give the steering wheel to Jesus and let Him take control?
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. ‘So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today’” (Matthew 6:33-34 NLT).
When we cast all of our cares, burdens, etc. over to God, He will take care of everything. You just need to put your trust in Him and allow Him to work in your life and guide you to where you’re meant to go. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5 NKJV). Instead of trying to control a situation when you sense change is in the midst, give it to God to handle. He is capable of guiding you through whatever situation it may be that is unknown, scary, etc.
The book of Psalms is one of my top three favorite books of the Bible, and I am going to quote some verses in the book of Psalms that really spoke to me and helped me through a time of unknown. A time that was so scary for me because of how new it was, and I didn’t know if I was strong enough to endure it.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalms 46:1-7 NKJV).
God is WITH us. He is not against us. No matter what situation, or change is brought your way, God is WITH you and can carry you through. God already knows the end result, so therefore, why should we worry when we can just trust in Him?
Always remember: “God is our refuge and strength…God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved…”. When you choose to open your heart, mind, and soul to God, He will transform you and fill your heart with His Holy Spirit so you can endure the unknown times with Jesus by your side every step of the way as it is written: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV). God will bless and love you unconditionally, always. Even when you feel you are so far gone, He is there waiting for the day that you are ready to come back to Him. And when you do, He will have a whole entire celebration planned and ready for you.
Amen.
